Best Practice to Future Prototypes

A detailed analysis of exemplary global consumer, community and lifestyle service outlets formed the basis for an aggregative understanding of their spatial principles. Use was made of network visualization tools to usefully separate out the relationship between components of consumer, community and lifestyle service and highlight the productive synergies among them. techniques for synthesizing new commercial centers were posited.

Qualification of Townships in Zhejiang Province for Consumer, Community and Lifestyle Services

A detailed account of research conducted in qualifying 43 selected townships in Zhejiang Province for consumer, community and lifestyle services. Research was based on the use of statistical indicators of likely performance drawing on available data together with results of a detailed field survey of stores and other venues in selected towns. Final results were presented in the form of a risk analysis associated with additional consumer, community and lifestyle services outlets, as well as propitious sites for their location.

Working Methodology for the Zhejiang Consumer Demand Study

A detailed outline of the steps taken in the study of demand and supply for consumer, community, and lifestyle services among small cities and towns in Zhejiang Province. These steps involved a variety of empirically based techniques including multiple regressions, non-parametric cluster analysis, and field surveys.

Beginning around the 1990s in East Asian cities various concatenations of events led those in power, along with many segments of society, to turn away from production-oriented and narrowly-defined pathways forward in modernization towards a much fuller embrace of broader lifestyle opportunities, improved environmental amenities, and higher standards of urban living. Within the scope of these turning points, new territories were chartered and new forms of urban-architectural development and expression were engaged in.

Methodological Notes on the Spatial Analysis of Urban Form

This book covers quantitative techniques and indices that can be used in the empirical description and analysis of urban spatial formation and settlement. Based on case-study applications, each technique and index is outlined and illustrated by a step-by-step fashion. With few exceptions, use is made of ready-available software. A brief historical background also accompanies the technical discussion.
